LRT CITY.COM - "By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim this morning I inaugurate the integrated LRT light rail train in the Jakarta Bogor Depok and Bekasi areas," Jokowi said at Cawang Station, East Jakarta, Monday (28/8/2023).
This inauguration was followed by an electronic card tap procession and the signing of an inscription as a sign of the Jabodebek LRT inauguration.
Before inaugurating the Jabodebek LRT, Jokowi first tried out the light rail train. Jokowi took the Jabodebek LRT from Harjamukti Station, Depok, West Java, Monday (28/8/2023).
Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Coordinating Minister for Marves Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet), Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono, West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, and Mustasyar (Advisor) of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board (PBNU) who is also PT KAI President Commissioner KH Said Aqil Siradj.
After the inauguration, Jokowi is scheduled to ride the Jabodebek LRT to Dukuh Atas Station, Central Jakarta.
Jabodebek LRT Tariff
The Ministry of Transportation stated that during the first month of operation, Jabodebek LRT will apply promo rates. The fare is cheap, only Rp 5,000 per person for long and short trips.
"Tomorrow (today) at the inauguration the tariff is a flat Rp 5,000 per person," Director General of Railways Risal Wasal told detikcom, Sunday (27/8/2023).
Risal said the Rp 5,000 far and near promo rate will be valid until the end of September, or a month after the transportation mode is inaugurated.
Without the promo, the Jabodebek LRT tariff was originally set at IDR 5,000 for the first kilometer (km) and IDR 700 per subsequent km. The calculation is listed in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 67 of 2023 concerning Transportation Rates for People with Jabodebek Integrated Light Railways (LRT) to Carry out Public Service Obligations.
The current tariff has been subsidized so that the cost is not too burdensome for the community and can attract people to switch to mass transportation.
For example, the furthest route Harjamukti-Jati Mulya originally had a fare from the operator of Rp 43,923. From there the government provides a 37% PSO so that people only need to pay Rp 27,400.
The amount of subsidy given to passengers varies depending on the route. For Dukuh Atas-Harjamukti, the PSO provided is 34% so that the tariff from the operator of Rp 33,275 becomes Rp 21,800 that the public needs to pay. Then, Dukuh Atas-Jatimulya becomes Rp 23,900 from Rp 37,268.
